Join your peers in IREM Northern Virginia and CREW Northern Virginia for a Day of Service to our communities! Register for one of the events below and you will be contacted by the event captain with more details. Be sure to mark your calendars for the time shown.

Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) 

 2708 S. Nelson St, Arlington, VA 22206 

2:00 pm - 3:30 pm 

15 Volunteers

Description: AFAC depends on the help of hundreds of volunteers. Volunteers bag, distribute, drive, glean, grow, help in the office and warehouse. AFAC currently needs "baggers" to help bag the donations for distribution. Wear casual comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Must be able to lift 15 lbs.

Food & Friends

219 Riggs Road NE, Washington, DC 20011 

1st Shift - 9 am - 12 pm - 8 volunteers needed to prepare and package meals

2nd Shift 1 pm - 3 pm - 6 volunteers needed to prepare and package meals

The only community-based organization in the D.C. region providing home-delivered medically tailored meals and medical nutrition therapy to our neighbors living with cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other serious illnesses. Food & Friends could not provide 1.2 million medically tailored meals, friendship, and nutrition counseling every year to our critically ill neighbors without the support of amazing volunteers like you. Please wear casual and comfortable attire and closed- toe shoes.

Women Giving Back

20 Export Drive, Sterling, VA 20164

1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

10-50 volunteers (all genders welcome) needed for sorting, hanging, restocking the store, boxing summer items, and helping set up and stock the diaper pantry. Women Giving Back supports women and children in crisis on a first step to stability by providing quality clothing at no cost, assisted by a caring and committed community.

Volunteer Alexandria

Meade Memorial Episcopal Church

322 N. Alfred Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 11:15 am - 12:30 pm

3 volunteers are needed to help to set up tables and distribute lunches

An ecumenical effort sponsored by nine churches in Alexandria provides lunches for homeless, unemployed, under-served and underemployed persons from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. All volunteers should arrive at 11:15 a.m.

Capital Area Food Bank

4900 Puerto Rico Avenue, NE, Washington DC, 20017

Up to 16 volunteers

Description: The Capital Area Food Bank leads our region’s efforts to provide equitable access to food and opportunity to people struggling with hunger and food insecurity. Each year, we source and distribute the food for more than 60 million meals. Volunteers are needed to sort and pack donations.

ReStore (a Habitat for Humanity Project)

869 S Pickett St, Alexandria, VA 22304

2 pm – 4 pm

10 volunteers are needed to sort donations and stock the thrift store.

Habitat ReStores are independently owned reuse stores operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations. ReStores accept donations and sell a constantly changing inventory of diverse, high-quality merchandise to the public at a fraction of the retail price, while diverting reusable household items and building materials from area landfills. Volunteers needed to sort donations and stock the thrift store.
